FAQ – Strictly Documentary Photography

Here is a selection of frequently asked questions for this alternative service. If you have any questions not covered here please drop us a message at hello@bscweddings.co.uk

What is the documentary wedding photography service?

The best and most emotional moments are usually the ones where people are relaxed and fully focused on the events of the day. Our photographer will capture your day without any distractions. We specialise in providing natural and relaxed photographs. We believe that those make the best wedding photos and if you agree this package is definitely for you!

This service offers a nonintrusive ‘fly on the wall’ photography style known as documentary wedding photography. This style captures the key moments without cheesy poses or discomfort to you and your guests. This style is perfect for couples who don’t like being in the limelight or for those that would rather enjoy their special day without being distracted from the party!

Who is the service suitable for?

This type of photography has become really popular in recent years for modern couples, alternative weddings and/or those who don’t want a fuss. It is perfect for those who would rather spend the day enjoying themselves and being with friends and family. Also for those who are more introverted and don’t like their picture taken which is an area we excel at!

What is the difference?

The only difference with this package is that there are no formal posed photos (group shots/family shots) and most importantly no posing! If you need that type of coverage I’d recommend one of our standard packages which offers the more traditional coverage 🙂 More info here on our standard packages.

As the service is a fast-paced ‘fly on the wall’ style you will get a lot of photos! The documentary-style will typically get up 100-200 photos per hour, of course, this will vary from wedding to wedding and is dependent on various factors such as venue size, amount of guests etc.

Photos of details such as venue, decorations, cake, centrepieces, etc are covered in this service.

What do I get with this package?

What is the price?

The nature of documentary photography allows us to minimise the amount of equipment we use and our goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible. To do this we use one photographer per wedding with a small setup. They’ll have two cameras (one for wide shots and one for closeups) on them throughout the day and you usually never know they are there!  This smaller setup is much easier to work with and uses less equipment, therefore can be a much more cost-effective way of getting your big day documented with stunning professional photos to be treasured forever.

There is a flat fee per-hour for this service and you can book your photographer from 3 hours to a max of 10 hours (this can be either decided on the day or during a free consultation).

Prices start at £350 for 3 hours then add £75 per additional hour as required.

Where do you cover?

Primarily in the Northeast of England but we can cover anywhere in the UK and abroad. Contact us for rates outside of Northeast England as travel costs may be applicable.
